neilag gallery was founded in 2022 by Anne and Alexis Hardouin-Finez.
Located in the historic heart of Bordeaux, the gallery faces the Palais Gallien, the remains of a Roman amphitheatre that has shaped the city’s cultural landscape for nearly two thousand years. In the presence of such a monument, one is naturally reminded of Hubert Robert, the Enlightenment painter who explored the poetic relationship between architecture, memory and time.
The founders, both designers, met in 1998 and have shared a commitment to art and design ever since. The gallery grew out of a long-standing ambition to create a space where historical consciousness and contemporary creation meet. The Palais Gallien became both a symbol and a catalyst, anchoring the gallery in a place where heritage and modernity coexist.
From painting and photography to textile, the gallery advances a rigorous and distinctive perspective on contemporary practice, bringing emerging and established artists into conversation within a carefully constructed curatorial framework.
Its international program presents artists and practices that critically engage with the cultural, social and geopolitical dynamics shaping our time. Through exhibitions, publications and dialogue, Galerie neilag seeks to foster a nuanced understanding of contemporary artistic production.
Beyond exhibiting, the gallery builds lasting relationships with collectors, institutions and cultural partners worldwide. Its ambition is to create encounters that resonate both intellectually and emotionally, through works that go beyond conventional notions of beauty and invite sustained attention.
